Hobbysew Books and Patterns - Lucy Boston – Patchwork of the Crosses
Lucy Boston – Patchwork of the Crosses
88 x 99 inches, made by Lucy Boston of Hemingford Grey in the late 1950s.
This is a quilt for fabric lovers! Lucy Boston’s niece remembers, “I was in Liberty with Lucy in 1952, buying cottons with her characteristic authority and instant painter’s eye for what would or would not do. It was an exhilarating half-hour, and we left with the usual frisson of pleasurable guilt.”
The pattern for this lovely patchwork was prepared with the gracious assistance of Diana Boston and is illustrated with photographs by Julia Hedgecoe. It includes instructions for sewing the patchwork by hand with traditional methods. It can also be stitched by hand or by machine.
