I bought a similar model to this almost 10 years ago (the only difference is that it is pink trim instead of blue). Machine is still going strong, able to do quilting, thick wools, sheer fabrics, button holes with ease. I occasionally consider buying a fancy new computerised machine which brought me to HobbySew which is where I bought my machine a decade ago .... but my mechanical Janome offers 100% of everything I need, so I will do a review instead (sorry Hobbysew, no new sale for you).

My 14 year old wanted a sewing machine, she’s always been a bit “crafty” but as I don’t sew it had to be really easy to use. I figured the best way was to get a brand name I had a least heard of and the same as the one they have at school, the Janome 3018LE - I guess it must be pretty tough. It’s a great machine and it comes with all the feet it needs to sew buttons and zippers plus it can sew stretchy fabric. This seems to be the right sewing machine for a household with 3 girls.
